Evening at Skidaway — March 18
March 18 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us for a talk with Dr. Nick Foukal, a physical oceanographer and SkIO’s newest faculty member. In an interview format, Dr. Foukal will answer questions about the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) — the giant ocean current system that helps regulate climate. Will the AMOC, which includes the Gulf Stream, slow or stop? What happens if it does? Learn the science behind it and why this topic matters to you — especially in Savannah!
- Speaker: Dr. Nick Foukal
- Topic: “The Ocean’s Hidden Engine, the AMOC: Will It Collapse, and What Happens if It Does?”
- Location: SkIO Library Auditorium, 10 Ocean Science Circle, Savannah, GA 31411
- Date: Tuesday, March 18, 2025
- Time: Welcome reception starts at 6:30 p.m. Talk starts at 7:00 p.m.
