Here are some of the more impressive images from the In Situ Ichthyoplankton Imaging System and modular Deep-focus Plankton Imager (both are shadowgraph systems). These are massive datasets, and many of these images are some of the first depictions of these beautiful animals in there natural environment. We are discovering new things within them all the time!

Polychaete

Tomopteris spp. off Stellwagen Bank - a holoplanktonic polychaete ,with good transparency and paddle shaped limbs, it is well adapted for life in the plankton.
